Worship Ministry Descriptions
This is an overview of each of the ministries that support the worship services at St. Andrew’s, all of which are open to both men and women.
Greeters & Ushers
Welcome worshippers with a warm smile, offer name tags, and help newcomers feel at home. Prepare the sanctuary, hand out bulletins, light candles, assist with seating, take the offertory, guide people to communion, and tidy up after the service. Working as a team, they help ensure everything runs smoothly before, during, and after worship.
Altar Guild & Chalice Bearer
Behind-the-scenes and at the altar, these volunteers prepare and care for the sanctuary, altar linens, vestments, and vessels. The Chalice Bearer assists the priest during Communion by offering the chalice of wine to the congregation.
Lectors
Read Scripture and lead prayers during worship. Enjoy public reading and prepare ahead to speak clearly and confidently.
Choir
Volunteers who love to sing and help lead worship music. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 4:00–5:30 PM. Sing during the season from November–April.
Coffee Hour Host
Provide food for Sunday Coffee Hour. Sign up in the narthex or contact the office at 941-964-2257.
