PARKING ORDINANCE
The Administrative Code for the Gasparilla Island Parking Ordinance, was approved by the County Commissioners on December 2. The Administrative Code provides details on the implementation and enforcement of the Ordinance, and be accessed on the following website:
In particular, the Administrative Code addresses requirements and rights for the Churches located on Gilchrist Avenue with regard to parking on both the Gilchrist Median and on the public streets (“On-Street Parking”) in the vicinity of the Churches.
The Gilchrist Median parking restrictions are now in effect and subject to enforcement by the Sheriff’s department. Details on the effective date and enforcement of the On-Street parking restrictions have not been made available at this time.
The following summarizes the Administrative Code as it applies to parking for St. Andrews parishioners and visitors:
Median Parking
- Parking is permitted on the Median for all parishioners and visitors between 3rd and 5th Streets on Sundays from 8am to 1pm.
- Parking is permitted on the Median, for all parishioners and visitors, for “Events” that are sponsored by St. Andrews Church where we expect that Event attendance may exceed available On-Street parking within One Block of the Church. The Ordinance defines “One Block of the Church” as the areas of Gilchrist Avenue which are located between 3rd and 5th Streets, and 4th Street from Park Avenue to the Gulf. “Events” include services for Holy Days (i.e. Christmas, Christmas Eve, Good Friday, etc.), weddings, funerals, and other Church-sponsored programs. The dates and details of all Events will be posted on the St. Andrew’s website and communicated to the Boca Grande Sheriff’s department. Whether or not a function is designated as an Event (where Median parking is permitted) will be confirmed on the St. Andrews website and via other forms of communication. We ask that all attendees at Events attempt to park in areas that are within One Block of the Church before parking on the Median.
- Median parking on Sundays and for Events will not require a permit, decal, hangtag, or any other form of vehicle identification.

On-Street Parking
- St. Andrews is located in a “Residential Zone” which is defined in the Ordinance and Administrative Code. Except as set forth below, only holders of so-called A, B, C, or D permits are permitted to park in a Residential Zone. If you have not done so already, please review the Administrative Code to familiarize yourselves with the various permits that will be made available to Residents, Visitors, Employees.
- The Administrative Code provides an exception to this restriction, so that for ALL attendees at St. Andrews functions are permitted to park within One Block of St. Andrews whether or not they hold a A, B, C, or D permit, or any other form of vehicle identification.
Employees and Volunteers
- The Administrative Code provides that employees and volunteers of not for profit organizations located on Boca Grande are eligible for Residential Zone on-street parking permits. The Church intends to file an application with the County to obtain these parking permits. Further details on this will be made available to our employees and volunteers.
The implementation of the Ordinance remains an evolving process, and the understanding, patience, and cooperation by our parishioners and visitors as our Church navigates through this period are deeply appreciated. Please stand by for updates in the weekly bulletin, website, and parishioner emails.
