St. Andrew's Memorial Garden

Our Memorial Garden

Honoring the Past, Living the Vision

From the earliest days of Christianity, believers have treated the mortal remains of the faithful with deep reverence. While our eternal home is in God’s presence, the Church honors the body as the “temple of the Holy Spirit” during life. Since the time of the Roman Catacombs, Christians have set aside sacred spaces to lay loved ones to rest in peace.

At St. Andrew’s, this tradition took root in the early 1990s when parishioner Anne Wright envisioned a Memorial Garden for our community. Her dream quickly inspired others, and in 1994, the Garden became a reality.

In 2009, a major campus renovation brought beautiful new facilities—church offices, a fellowship hall, a redesigned rectory, and a refreshed sanctuary.

Completing the vision in late 2024, the Memorial Garden has now been fully renewed into a sacred, inviting space that serves both our parish family and the wider Boca Grande community.

Preserving Loved Ones
Those already interred remain undisturbed. Their names are now honored on new granite plaques along the Memorial Wall.

A Beautiful New Memorial Wall

With more than double the previous capacity, the coquina stone wall and weather-resistant granite plaques provide a lasting tribute, able to withstand the salt air and Florida climate.

Expanded Interment Space
A new gridded layout makes it easy for families and friends to locate the final resting places of their loved ones.

A Place of Peace and Welcome
The Garden is open daily for prayer, reflection, quiet conversation, or simply enjoying God’s creation in a serene setting.

A Gathering Space for Worship and Fellowship
With open areas, a small altar, and sacred landscaping, the Garden now hosts parish events, concerts, lectures, and intimate services—baptisms, weddings, funerals, vigils, and Evening Prayer.
