The Rector Search Progress Chart
Please note:
Once we officially post the position, we will advise the congregation.
Those who know of someone who may be interested,
information will be shared on how that person can apply.
All necessary data will also be posted on our website.
Listening
This initial phase focuses on prayer, reflection, and gathering input from the congregation. Through surveys, conversations, and discussions, we discern who we are as a faith community and what God may be calling us to in the next season. This stage ensures the voices of parishioners are heard and valued.
Prepare to Cast Net
In this stage, the search committee compiles two key documents: the Parish Profile and the Office of the Transition Ministry Profile/Questionnaire (OTM), drawing from the insights gathered during the listening phase and other Church data. We define the kind of priest we seek—spiritually, pastorally, and practically—and prepare to open the search. It's a time of readiness and outreach, ensuring we are equipped to receive candidates. Once all of this is completed and approved by the Diocese, we can officially post the position for a new priest. Based on advice as to the best timing, we anticipate this occurring at the beginning of September.
Review Applicants
Interested priests submit their names and requested information to the Diocese, which will make sure there are no background issues with the applicants.
Once done, the applications will be forwarded to our committee for prayerfully evaluation each candidate. This includes reviewing resumes, written responses to the OTM Questionnaire. sermons, and references. The goal is to identify individuals whose gifts align with the needs and values of our congregation.
Interviews
After narrowing the applicant pool, the committee begins holding structured interviews, both virtual and in person. These conversations help us discern not just qualifications, but calling—whether there is a genuine match between the priest’s sense of vocation and the spiritual life of our parish.
Decision
This final stage involves deep prayer and consensus. The search committee makes a recommendation, and the Vestry discerns and confirms the call. After Diocesan approval, a call is extended to the chosen candidate, and preparations begin for their arrival.
